Membership Renewals 2024

Nick Lappage2024 News, News8 Comments

They’re different right? Well, sort of…

Many of you will have had emails from (and many more will soon get your own) about your current membership being changed to an Annual Membership. This is good. It’s not a scam as some people have questioned.

It’s not a change to your membership, rather a change to the way we collect your membership details and how we ask new members to join our great club. For many years now, we have been able to join online using a standard form (Machform) which has served us well, but it’s time to move forward from spreadsheets and actually have something useful and easy to operate.

We now have a system from Paid Memberships Pro. All your information is the same and secure, but you will no longer have to enter your details unless you want to change something (for example, your contact details or your bike).

The great thing about this new system is you can now renew using your credit/debit card, cheque or bank transfer – PayPal is coming soon. You don’t need to pay online if you don’t want to. Just renew with the new form and send a cheque to Fran, our membership secretary or pay by BACS to the club account. All payment details and instructions are at the end of the form.

You will also discover that you can print your Membership Card from your own account page – how cool is that? You can even store it on your phone and show it at a rally entrance instead of fiddling in your wallet. More features will be coming soon – such as reading Clatter online (for members only) and we will be restricting some pages to members only too – have you ever seen those annoying messages from the forum?

So, for the moment, I am transferring over all our membership details onto the new system with the current membership data. It’s a loooonnnggg manual process, trust me. And this is why you will get an email or two from the club. One email is about registering for the club, the other will be about your membership expiring on 31st March 2024.

To Join or Renew, you will need to login to the website or create an account with the new forms, it’s all very simple to do – many of you have already done so. Thank you.

If you ever lose your password you can reset it here: Reset my Password.

The club website is like any other website. To use it to its fullest potential, you will need an email address and a strong password. There are websites to help you to create strong passwords – one I personally like is here: and there are others such as

I would also suggest using a password manager. The ones supplied by Microsoft and Google are both excellent and available in your browser but there are other options available for Free and Paid For – you can read about them here if you wish to:

And don’t worry if you ever get locked out because you used the wrong password, username or email address. It’s just for 30 minutes and you can try again. If I’m at my computer and see it’s happened to you, I can react much more quickly. But I do have a daytime job you know.

Do let me know if you want to find out more about these changes, simply email me or reply to your club notification email

Many thanks for your understanding and reading this far down the page.

Kind regards,

  1. Will I still get my clatter magazine? Don’t wish to read it on line. I save my copy of our mag, have done since joining the club years ago.

    1. Hi Les. Yes, you will still get your copy of Clatter posted to you. There will soon be an online version for those members who have opted out of receiving their copy and have been asking for a website version.
Thank you for renewing by the way 🙂
      Kind regards,

  2. Hi Nick.
I had problems setting up an account to pay my membership, as it said my email was already in use, I don’t remember creating an account before with a password.
So I did reset password and got into my account. I’m still confused how this happened, but I did manage to renew my membership 😅

Also it would be helpful to have the view option on the passwords as it took me 4 attempts to spell it correctly. Keep up the good work. Thanks Sarah

    1. Hi Sarah.

Thank you for renewing your membership, we really do appreciate it.

We’ve been working very hard behind the scenes to create accounts for every current member so that all their details are completed (from previous joining and renewal forms) for a faster renewal process. This meant providing everyone with a Username and Password connected to the Member’s email address (where we had one). So that’s where your one came from. You should have received an email detailing this from

I will look into the view password option for you and everyone else 🙂

      Kind regards,

  3. Hi Nick.
Thanks for your reply, I couldn’t find anything about my password in the email, so that had me stumped, but once in it was so easy to do, all my details were already filled in and correct. You’ve done a lot of hard work. 👍🏻

Password view would be good, as even my little fingers hit the wrong keys sometimes 😉
    Thanks sarah

    1. Hi again, Sarah,

I have been able to get a fix. Can you please check for the password toggle icon now. It doesn’t work for the Confirm Password bit, but a copy and past of the first one should do the trick.

  4. “You don’t need to pay online if you don’t want to. Just renew with the new form and send a cheque to Fran, our membership secretary or pay by BACS to the club account. All payment details and instructions are at the end of the form.”

How do you access the new form as I presume the one included in the clatter is an old one as it contains no BACS details.

    Best Regards Chris

PS. When you sent out the initial invitations it would have been an idea to advise that the password link was time sensitive.

    1. Hi Chris,

The one in Clatter is the latest one for applying by post and paying by cheque. The new online form is available here:
You can find it from the main menu under “Memberships” > “Membership Renewals – £20”
Or you can find it from “Memberships” > Membership Information”

I didn’t realise that the password link was time sensitive. I have just checked and found this:

“By default, when a user requests a new password, the website creates a special “key”, which must be used within a given time frame. By default, this is set to 24 hours. If the password is not reset within the stipulated time frame, the key becomes invalid and the user must request a new password reset link”

I will see about increasing the length of time before expiry and also a note on the reset link if I can.
Thank you for letting me know.
