I’ve just recently bought an XV1100. Absolutely love the bike, although I’ll have to make some changes to make her “perfect” in my eyes. I am pretty disappointed in the fuel consumption though. 86 miles from a full tank? And I only really opened her up on a couple of straight stretches. Can anyone give me some realistic figures for expected m.p.g. (or is it m.p.l?) Woule really appreciate a little advice before I take her over to my local bike expert to get her seen to. Thanks all!

I don’t know if you have had any replies, however you should be getting around 125-130 miles before the light comes on.
I suggest you have issues within your carbs. Has the bike been serviced, plugs, air filter etc. Exhausts also have an influence but shouldn’t be a lot.
Where are you located as someone with knowledge of the bike in your Centre should be able to help

Hi Kevin and thanks for the ‘heads up’. This is the first answer I’ve received, and it does help. I have her booked in for a full service in a couple of weeks. There is, it seems, air getting into the exhaust system somewhere. The engineer who’s going to look at her will also check the carbs thoroughly. Hopefully that will sort the problem out. She runs well enough, even now, but the exhaust has to go anyway. Ugly thing on such a great looking bike and sounds horrible. Anyway, thanks again and I’ll let you know what’s found.
