hi everyone, i’m building a 1981 xv750 and have more or less finished it, in fact i’ve ridden it ten miles or so but it has the classic xv starter issues. i’m a motor engineer and vintage car restorer by trade and can see that it is not a great system to start with. can anyone tell me the best way forward as far as parts/conversions/modifications etc ? ive tried most of the mods on you tube and even a couple of my own but its poor at best. any parts available are 2nd hand and look just as worn and new parts few and far between. i can start it cold but hot….. no chance. too much compresssion for the gears and then it just sounds like gravel crunching. does anyone know if the early TR1 casing/gears/starter will fit as this looks a better idea ? i have noticed that every TR1 motor i’ve seen for sale has most of these parts missing which leads me to think that they do fit. if so does anyone have the casing and starter and solenoid for sale ? there seem to be loads of these bikes still around so you cant all have bad starter motor systems ! HELP !!!!
      thanks

hi again, is there anyone out there in this club that could possibly give me some help with this starter problem please ? does anyone have the necasssary parts to convert to the TR1 system ? are there any specialists out there who have a source of new parts or a different conversion method ?
