We have recently reviewed and updated several of the policies that govern how the Virago Star Owners Club website operates and how personal data is handled.
These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, good governance, and protecting the privacy of our members and website users.
What has changed?
We have updated and aligned the following policies:
- Privacy Policy – clearer information about what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights.
- Data Retention Policy – a plain English explanation of how long different types of data are kept and why.
- Cookie Policy – clearer guidance on how cookies are used and how you can control your preferences.
- Terms and Conditions – updated to reflect how the website operates today and to properly reference the above policies.
Why have we done this?
As a members’ club, we believe it is important to be clear and open about how information is used. These updates help ensure:
- Our policies are consistent with one another
- Information is easy to understand and not hidden in legal jargon
- We meet our responsibilities under UK data protection law
No changes have been made to how we use personal data beyond what is already necessary to run the club, manage memberships, operate the website, and organise club activities.
Your privacy at a glance
To make things easier, we have added a short Privacy at a Glance summary to the website. This gives a simple overview of:
- What information we collect
- Why we collect it
- How long it is normally kept
- What rights you have
Full details are still available in the full policies for anyone who would like to read more.
Where can I read the updated policies?
Do I need to do anything?
No action is required. We simply encourage members and website users to take a look at the updated policies when convenient.
